As a midwife, you will play a vital role in providing quality care to pregnant women, new mothers and infants. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive care before, during and after childbirth, while providing emotional and educational support to women and their families.
Main Responsibilities:
- Pregnancy Preparation:
- Carry out regular prenatal consultations.
- Monitor maternal and fetal health.
- Provide advice on nutrition, exercise and preventive care.
- Childbirth and Post-Childbirth:
- Supporting women during labor and childbirth.
- Manage postpartum care, including breastfeeding and newborn care.
- Assess and monitor maternal recovery.
- Education and Advice:
- Provide educational information about pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care.
- Answering questions and concerns of pregnant women.
- Provide emotional and psychological support.
- Prevention and Management of Complications:
- Identify signs of potential complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
- Coordinate care with other health care professionals as needed.
- Intervene appropriately in the event of complications.
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Accurately document details of consultations and deliveries.
- Maintain complete and confidential medical records.
- Prepare periodic reports on activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma in midwifery from an accredited school.
- Registration/licensing as a midwife.
- Extensive knowledge of prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care.
- Communication and counseling skills.
- Ability to work in a team with other healthcare professionals.
